In 2012, this grizzly bear took her cubs,(two yearlings as well as her three year old cub) and left her home range of Kananaskis and the Nakiska Ski Hill area to avoid large cub killing males during the mating season. Her journey took her over the range to Canmore, Alberta. Over the next few days the bear aversion team and Conservation Officers tirelessly guided her away from the townsite. At the time I was just a volunteer, assisting an officer in getting her back to the park before other agencies set traps and relocated her. Once she was at Dead Man's Flats, we knew we could guide her south, and after a long day she was well on her way. The next morning she was back on the slopes of her favorite ski hill.
