Osaka Castle is one of Japan's most famous castles and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was built in 1583 by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, a powerful feudal lord who unified Japan during the AzuchiMomoyama period. The castle was originally made of wood and was heavily decorated with gold, making it one of the most impressive structures in Japan at the time.

Destroyed several times in the centuries following its construction, most notably in 1615 during the Siege of Osaka. The castle was rebuilt in the 17th century but it was not until the 1930s that the current main tower was constructed. The tower is made of concrete and is five stories tall. It houses a museum that exhibits the history of Osaka Castle and the Toyotomi clan.

Osaka Castle is located in the heart of Osaka city and is a popular tourist destination. The castle grounds are extensive and include a number of other structures such as the Nishinomaru Garden and the Tenshukaku Museum.
