For your CDL pretrip inspection you have 45 minutes to complete this on test day. Examiners will NOT give you extra time. Therefore, DON'T DAWDLE! And know that you are demonstrating a competency, not determining if the vehicle is safe. You know the major components of the vehicle and whether these are safe and working. Stick to the sequence so that you don't miss anything. If you make a mistake, don't let it bog you down. Take a breath and keep going. If you forget a name, simply touch it and say, "secure, not damaged, not leaking." If you forget something, you can go back and check it. As soon as you show up at the DMV, chock the wheels, drain the wet tank, and get your tools ready.
