Mistakes I made
1. Research
When I bought my first DSLR digital camera I did no research at all into which camera I would need for dog photography. So I bought another.
2. 1 Flash
Taking photography to the next stage using flash photography and speedlites, I bought 4 flashes but unknowing 3 were faulty plus the flash trigger.
3. Cheap camera websites.
To save £300 on a camera I spent £3,000 on a Canon camera the 1DX full frame sports camera which arrived after 6 weeks and was faulty. The camera cost £400 to get fixed at Canon UK and the camera was not covered by a Canon Warranty in the UK.
4. Read the rules.
By not fully reading the rules for the Guild of Photographers Image of the Month photo competition I did not get my Photographers Bar in 2018. Although I had more points for the Bar then in 2018 than when I actually received my Bar in 2019.
(Reason, I put 2 photos into the people category, which won Bronze Awards. I needed all 24 images to be in the open category in 2018 which is why I didn't get the Bar in 2018)
Tip Once you get the points for your Bar keep entering the same category each month. It is possible to get enough points for the Bar in 2 months, but you still need to enter for 8 months.
5. Photo backup disaster
If you don't back up your photos ideally, with a secure cloud backup plan and rely on hard drives disaster will happen. I use SmugMug for mine.
