Drift Ice Highway Abashiri is a roadside station located at the mouth of the Abashiri River where seagulls fly around, overlooking the Sea of Okhotsk and the Shiretoko Peninsula.
The rest area not only provides a variety of information about the area, including tourist information and sales of agricultural and marine products, but also serves as a base for sightseeing on drift ice as the port for the icebreaker Aurora.

The icebreaker Aurora is a ship that sails through the Sea of Okhotsk, breaking up drift ice with its weight. The ship has a capacity of 400 passengers and makes five sailings a day.
You may also see wild birds such as the Steller's Sea Eagle.
It seemed like the peak of drift ice had passed, so there wasn't a lot of drift ice, but the days before and after that there wasn't any drift ice at all, so I was lucky to see at least a little .

流氷街道網走は、カモメが飛び交う網走川の河口に位置し、オホーツク海と知床半島を望む道の駅です。
休憩所は観光案内や農水産物の販売など地域のさまざまな情報を提供するほか、砕氷船おーろらの発着港として流氷観光の拠点としても機能します。

この船は、その重みで流氷を砕きながら、オホーツク海を航行します。
流氷砕氷船「おーろら」は定員400名で1日5便出航します。
オオワシなどの野鳥が見られることもあります。
流氷のピークは過ぎたようで少なかったですが前後の日は全く流氷がなかったので少しでも見ることができて運が良かったです。
