Meiji Emperor's Ship Viewing Monument in Tenpozan
When the Edo shogunate fell and the last shogun, Yoshinobu Tokugawa, fled from Tenpozan in 1868, Emperor Meiji himself led his army to Osaka, and on March 26, he saw the warships of each domain from Tenpozan. This was the first ship review ceremony in Japan.
Currently, a monument to this time, ``Meiji Emperor 's Ship Viewing Monument'' stands on Tempozan.

明治天皇観艦之所碑
江戸幕府が倒れ、1868慶応4年、最後の将軍徳川慶喜が天保山から敗走すると、明治天皇自らが軍を率いて大阪に来られ、3月26日天保山台場から各藩の軍艦をご覧になり、
これが日本で最初の観艦式となりました。
現在、天保山にはこの時の記念碑「明治天皇観艦之所碑」が立っています。
