We had a great day of scuba diving around Coron, Palawan, Philippines. It was an amazing day, and we loved exploring the shipwrecks, as well as a night dive.

For their second dive, Sam, Ben, and Dad went scuba diving down to the Okikawa Maru Shipwreck, one of the most popular dives in the Coron area. It is a shipwreck from WWII and is about 12 meters (36 feet) deep.

When we got into the water, you could instantly feel the current. We had to hold the rope the entire time so we wouldn't get swept away. We waited about 5 meters down as our guide checked things out. He described that the current was the strongest he has ever seen here and asked if we wanted to still do the dive. Benny was having a hard time equalizing his ears so he decided to go back. Sam and Dad were excited to go down. When we got there, we were happy to discover that if we were close enough to the deck, the current was not too strong.

It was amazing to look over the front and sides of the ship and to see so many schools of fish swimming in the current. It was almost as if they were playing in the strength of the current. We saw all kinds of beautiful fish including clown fish, parrot fish, and many schools of a variety of fish. We also saw some beautiful coral including some nudie branches. It was cool to explore the deck and to be able to see down into the ship. It was an exhilarating dive. It was fun to share all of the amazing things when we got back to the boat.
