Gordon Physical Therapy

If you're recovering from a concussion injury, a vital part of your recovery is learning how to gradually increase your activity level without aggravating your symptoms too much and slowing down your recovery.

When it comes to increasing your activity level, you can use the 2Point Rule for monitoring your various symptoms during whatever activity you're working on improving.

For example, if you're an athlete trying to improve your running tolerance, and your primary concussion symptom when you run is increased headaches, you can apply this 2Point Rule like this: if you rate your baseline headache at 3/10, as you run, if your headache increases to 5/10, that's when you want to stop and rest.

Another example: if reading increases your concussion symptoms, only read up to the point where your symptoms increase by 2 points (on a 10point scale) and then stop.
