It's October 1995. SUV sales are at an alltime high, making up 20% of new vehicle sales in the US. The minivan segment has blossomed with an overwhelming variety of options from Japan and America.
The Previa, which was once one of the premier minivan choices for buyers, is struggling to remain relevant with its relatively high price tag (roughly $5k higher than the equivalent Grand Caravan)
This didn't stop Toyota from making the Previa more appealing, as the company officially made the supercharged engine standard across the lineup for 1996. Toyota is even offering an "Extra Value Package" that saves buyers nearly $2,000 on desirable options
But is this enough to regain interest in this quirky people hauler? Or should Toyota just admit that the midengine design has failed and moved on already?
A thorough 2,300 mile road test reveals an answer that might surprise you
