Anatoli Boukreev was a Sovietborn professional mountaineer who conquered many summits during his career. His name hit headlines across the world in May 1996, when a disaster occurred on Mount Everest. Anatoli on his own saved three hikers who had nearly perished trying to conquer Everest. For his actions, however, Anatoli was not only praised, but also criticized.
