1979 Chevrolet C10 Audiophile Design: Part 2 Subwoofer Enclosure, Amp Rack, and Beauty Panels

Welcome back to the 1979 Chevrolet C10 Audiophile Design series. In our last episode, we talked about the cabling and sound deadening material we used to this classic truck. Today, we're focusing on the next stage of our project: the subwoofer enclosure, the amp rack, and the beauty panels. Let's get started."

First up, the subwoofer enclosure. We wanted to make sure that the bass was powerful and punchy, so we designed a customfit subwoofer box to get the most out of our subwoofers. The box is made of highquality MDF wood, which provides a solid foundation for the bass. It's also sealed to prevent any vibration from leaking out of the enclosure and into the truck.

The subwoofer enclosure was created using our SR48 CAMaster Stinger 3 CNC machine. The subwoofer enclosure holds one JL Audio 13TW5v22 subwoofer. This shallow mount subwoofer sounds great and handles a lot of power.

Next, the amp rack. We needed a place to mount the amplifiers, so we created a custom rack that not only looks great, but also provides the proper ventilation to keep the amps cool. The rack is made of lightweight aluminum, which makes it easy to install, and the powdercoated finish gives it a sleek, modern look.

The amplifier rack and beauty panels also leveraged the CAMaster CNC as well as our state of the art Trotec Speedy 400 laser engraver and cutter. The Illusion Audio C8 midbass drivers were installed in the doors. While the Illusion Audio C3CX mid range and tweeters were installed in the APillars. This video is 38 minutes long and take you through the whole process.

Finally, the beauty panels. We wanted to make sure that the inside of the truck looked just as good as the sound system sounds, so we created custom beauty panels to cover up any unsightly wires and components. The panels are made of highquality materials, and the custom cutouts are designed to perfectly fit the components. The result is a clean, professionallooking install that looks just as good as it sounds.

With the subwoofer enclosure, the amp rack, and the beauty panels installed, we're one step closer to completing our 1979 Chevrolet C10 Audiophile Design. Make sure to stay tuned for the next episode, where we'll be talking about the custom center console fabrication that will take this classic truck to the next level of sound and style.
