Maria Díaz began working for Social Security in 1982 when she was still a student at Florida International University. Over the course of the years, she filled many positions within the administration before becoming the South Florida Public Affairs Specialist in 2000. Over the course of the next 17 years, she carried out weekly appearances on live TV and Radio, with participation in segments about Social Security, Supplemental Security Income, Medicare and SSI related programs.
In this position, she worked diligently to educate the community on Social Security program, benefits and services.

Maria retired in 2017 after over 35 years of service with the Social Security Administration. She fills her days spending time with family and friends, travel, assisting community and trying to stay healthy.
