대구의 한 수달 사육사 남현지 씨는 어미 수달의 한 행동에 깜짝 놀랐습니다. 어미 수달이 눈도 안 뜬 새끼수달을 물고 와 자신 품에 맡긴 겁니다.

남 씨는 두려웠습니다. 수달은 외모는 귀엽지만 난폭하기로 소문난 동물이기 때문입니다.

몇 달 후 남 씨는 수달 마음을 이해할 수 있었습니다. 수달은 자신이 안전하다고 생각하는 곳으로 새끼를 옮기는 습성이 있습니다.

뛰어난 지능 덕에 수달은 자신을 돌보는 사람을 따르는 재주도 있습니다.

Hyeonji Nam, an Otter Breeder based in Daegu, was one day left surprised as a mother otter brought the baby otters into her arms and left them unattended.

Miss Nam was left afraid as otters may look cute but looks can be deceiving as otters have a reputation to be ferocious animals especially around their offspring.

A few months later, Miss Nam finally got to know the nature of the mother otter's act. Otters have a habit of carrying their children to places where they feel safe!

Thanks to high intelligence from otters, they have the capability to build trust with their caretakers.
