Haiti is engulfed in violent gang wars for decades. After the assassination of thenpresident Juvenile Moise, it went crazy. Since the beginning of 2023, according to a U.N. report, another thousand people have been kidnapped, and at least two thousand killed, including thirtyfour police officers. The country has only about nine thousand police officers, many of whom are believed to be involved with gangs. The Army is effectively nonexistent, with some two thousand active troops. The acting PM has asked for international help for boosting the security in the country.

Haiti was the first black country to gain independence from its colonial master France. Yet, they could not preserve it.
