على السهول الغربية للصين، يثير أحد الاكتشافات الاستثنائية الشكوك حول أصول العِرْق الصيني. عبر الأجيال المتتالية للمغاربة في أوروبا الشمالية، تمكَّن جامعو الخُث من كشف النقاب عن المئات من المومياوات الجيدة التحنيط تظهر على أجسام أصحابها إصابات بالغة. وقع الاختيار على ثلاثة أطفال محنَّطون بشكل مثالي ليذبحوا ويُقدموا قرباناً لآلهتهم. وفي المناطق الاستوائية، كان الأقارب المتوفون يُعلَّقون في الكهوف ويقوم الأحياء بزيارتهم والاحتفال بهم. تجسد كل قصة استثنائية ومشوِّقة لحظة معينة في الرحلة البشرية وتذكرنا بأننا بشر من لحم ودم.
