Down to the beach for some hydrotherapy. I hear it said often, "Dogs do fine with three legs." I find this platitude discouraging. Zuri is not doing doing fine with three legs. It is hard work, she fatigues and her remaining back leg often collapses. Changing direction is difficult and she had stopped doing many activities that she used to do. Its partly her personality. If she hurts herself, she remembers and won't do that again It's good in one way because she protects her stump very well and is very gentle with it rather than just thumping it down. She hasn't been able to use her prosthetic for three weeks due to a wound and, in its absence, I can see how much it helps her. If you watch this clip you will see how challenging it is for her to keep her balance as small waves roll in and out. I clap when she swims for a few seconds. The dolphins joined us today but they were too shy to stay for filming. There's magic amidst the hardship.
