You might have heard the terminology of a high performance home. So what is a high performance home? A high performance home is one with a good building enclosure, airtight and well insulated in addition with a properly installed AC and cooling system. And because of the home being airtight with a mechanical ventilation system.

The results of all of these applications makes for a comfortable, healthy, durable, and energy efficient home.

So what is a ZIP system or zip sheeting? A zip sheeting is an engineered wood that already has a water resistant barrier applied on it.

A traditional method to enclose, an envelope to enclose a house would be to install an engineered wood panel of any kind. That could be osb, it could be plywood, and you would then apply a house wrap.

Inevitabily, what happens is with wind, with storms, with with rain, the, the house wrap begins to move around. The flaps around. Sometimes it tears through the application and sure, a good installer, what they'll do, they'll go back, they'll fix, they'll patch anything before they install. by using the ZIP system. We don't have that issue anymore.

That's one of the reasons why we use it. A lot of the videos about zip system are typically aimed, uh, general contractors, et cetera. I wanted to do a video for the homeowner. Why should you care about using this product? Why do we use it for us building a house to. It is sort of like getting a passing grade. We aim for a, um, we just want to use a better product for our clients. Uh, if I were building my own house, this will be the product that I would use
