In Aldous Huxley's "Young Archimedes," an English couple, the Narrator and his wife, move to Italy and encounter a remarkably intelligent peasant boy named Guido. They become fascinated by Guido's natural mathematical genius and his ability to intuitively understand complex concepts. The couple try to provide him with opportunities to cultivate his talent, but they clash with the boy's family and the local culture, which do not value intellectual pursuits.
