This trip from York to Middlesborough takes us up the ECML and then we head east to Eaglescliffe where we pick up the most important stretch of railway in history. A short run over the original path of the Stockton and Darlington Railway. This was the first public railway to ever use a steam locomotive to haul a train it was constructed by George Stephenson in 1825. Following our arrival at Middlesborough there is the last few miles of the ECML back into York which gives you a look at the TPE York Depot and the NRM.
Addendum
Leeming Road should read Leeman Road for the TPE Depot.
