So part 3 of my 4 worx mower reviews, and I must say my least favourite, it gives the best cut though, confused? so am I..... I just cant honestly justify the £450 price tag, its plastic body self drive motor that seemingly saps the life out of the run time is slightly unnecessary and is too fast in slow and too slow in fast mode, the battery light cant be viewed unless looking over it too and on my one I can only get 60% of the cut heights due to a faulty spring mechanism that they changed from the original design :( ok lets look at the positives, it is only 40v and you don't HAVE to use self propelled mode, so I can forgive that, the dual batteries have good run time and are well matched to the brushless main motor ignoring the juicy self drive mechanism, the mulch plug is a good feature but could do with some kind of storage when not being used feature, the grass collector is 50 litres and well matched and adequate for minimum emptying and maximum mowing time, the sleek extruded aluminium handles are beautiful and well crafted and add to the luxury feel with their folding design, the grass collector holder secret on the back makes upright storage great and easy, cleaning is difficult as the machine is only ipx1 rated, meaning it is only water proof to vertical water not under any pressure or from the side, that said careful tactical Hydroshot use can be achieved at the owners risk, after all how much damage can you do pressure washing bare plastic?! no liability will be accepted if you end up messing up your mower doing this maybe I have got lucky so far!
I cant write this without mentioning the battery light, it really gripes me and frustrates me that a company like Worx that think of everything would leave such an oversite in a production, it just needs angling up about 40 degrees towards the user, that's all.
for me the cut this mower gives at 40mm on well kempt grass is however phenomenal, it looks like a surgeon has sliced every blade of grass with a scalpel! its artistic and divine! that said it has too much else "wrong" in my opinion that casts a huge shadow over it as a product, which is really quite bad as it is a mower, and the cut should be all that it is about, maybe I am being a bit harsh on it, but I really think giving it an extra 20v to make it 60v would make up for the lesser run time due to the self propelled mode, though I will say if you have no grass collector on it extends the run time well, grass can be extremely heavy and the more it cuts the more it has to cart around, hence the less run time, eliminate this issue and you have a fairly good meaty 46cm brushless machine!
