Today I stared by taking a sled full of boxes all the way thorough the forest to my destination. But it was only half the boxes I needed so back all the way thorough the forest to grab the remaining boxes. Once I was back at the same spot where I build my saran wrap shelter I piled up all 70 large boxes. I was tired after those long sled drags but I still needed my gear to survive out here as well. So back one more time though the forest to grab my camping gear. this time I arrived at the spot with a few storage containers full of food and camera gear as well as some clothes, hammock, sleeping bag, heater, and extra jacket in case I needed it. First thing I needed to set up my hammock to see how big I needed to build my shelter. Once the hammock was hanging between two trees. I started to frame up the base walls of the shelter. I needed to find some tape first. So I went ahead and shook up the tape tree and picked up the fallen fruit. Now it was time to start to fold and build the boxes. At first I taped the boxes but then realized if I folded them open it would make more sense and save me some tape so I went with that method. I began laying them out around the hammock and began to tape them all together. I had to wrap a few boxes around some trees to keep the shape and give it some extra support. the first layer was complete many more to go. So I kept building boxes and taping them together like huge lego pieces. The shelter was coming along. I then took duct tape and ran around the whole area of the wall to really stick it all together. Now the walls were super strong. Once the walls were up it was time for the roof. I collected left over sticks form the saran wrap shelter and laid them across to act as roof beams. I then laid flat boxes all across the roof and taped them all together. It was looking good! I laid a few large sticks on top to weight down and have extra support on the roof and now the roof was complete. Onto the front door situation. I took some flat boxes and began taping them together in large sheets. I then began to make tape hinges for the door along with a tape handle for ease of use. I had to cut out a corner of the door to let the hammock stick out so I would be able to close the door at night. One final tape wrap and the shelter was complete. I also taped on a motion activated light to the roof to deter any animals form getting to close at night. I was really happy with the way the shelter cam out :D. I was tired and hungry now. It was time for dinner. I made some rose pasta today with some bell pepper, garlic, and onion. Yumm! I cut and cooked up the veggies with some olive oil. I then boiled up the pasta noodles. While the water was a boil I waled around the the very small pond and tried to throw a rock in the ice. It was still to thick. I then was searching on camera for some wildlife. But I couldn't see any. Back to the pasta. Noodles were done time to add the vegetables and sauce. It was complete and time to eat Yummm! With a little daylight left it was time to walk to the larger pond in hope to find something cool. We saw some deer tracks, turkey tracks, and possibly coyote tracks. I also showed the huge vines wrapping up all the way around a tree. wild. Back to the shelter. It was quiet hidden with a lot of brown leaves showing. A lot more hidden that I though it would be. The sunset was so beautiful that night I had to get some lovely shots of it. Some of my favorite sunset shots ever. It was now dark and I decide to take yall on a small night walk to look for anything interesting. Sadly not much happened on the night walk other than some spooky looking flashlight shots. It was time for bed. I woke up the next morning still alive form the cold. I was hungry and it was pancake time. The shelter handled the night perfectly. I made some pancakes and this time and they turned out really good! I was happy. Sadly it was time to clean up. I though it would be fun if I just ran into the shelter to take it down lol. So I did. After the shelter fell apart I packed up all my gear and began the 3 trips to take everything back. Leaving a clean spotless forest in my path. It was a blast to make this shelter and I truly hope you enjoyed :D
