As the use of artificial intelligence (AI) becomes more prevalent, you may be wondering if AI will replace Notaries. Watch the video to find out.

Notaries will not be replaced with AI. In fact, the role of Notaries is going to become even more essential. While AI may be able to automate certain parts of the notarization, the technology is unable to judge a person’s identity, awareness, and willingness as accurately as a human Notary can.

NNA President and CEO Tom Heymann predicts state lawmakers will be revisiting their Notary laws again due to this emerging technology. During the pandemic, we witnessed lawmakers scrambling to institute new laws to adopt electronic and remote notarization. While they passed laws that required educational training and increased bond amounts to prevent fraud, Heymann believes state lawmakers will need to reevaluate their laws to ensure Notaries can continue to protect consumers effectively.

Heymann asks ChatGPT, “Will AI take away jobs from Notaries Public?” to which AI addresses the need for human oversight during notarizations due to false positives and negatives.
