My wife is redoing our landscaping and wants the holly shrubs gone. I used the Ventrac 4520P to pull them out. Huge thanks to @steiger256 who provided me the following tips regarding this task:

"Q: I used the Ventrac yesterday to rip out some landscaping. I left the tough cut on as I figured the weight forward would help when pulling shrubs with the receiver hitch. Is that logic right?

A: Extra weight on the front will help for traction. If you are tugging and jerking on shrubs I would lower the deck and then lift up on it just enough to keep the front caster wheels on the ground. It would help keep the front end from slamming down when the shrub let loose. Also when pulling stuff out like that using low range makes a huge difference. The tough cut on the front will help a lot though. You can also try lifting the deck all the way up and selecting weight transfer number 4 then lower it to float. That will give extra weight as well and then if it spins you can raise the deck up some. Keeping it lowered a bit just helps if you stop fast when the shrub lets go. Hope this helped."

It did, thanks so much! Unfortunately I was in high range the whole time, so lost some of the power I could have had. Good reminder for next time!

Q: Why didn't you use a shovel like a real man? (This is actually a real comment I had on one of my community posts. I went to reply but the commenter removed it shortly after posting!)

A: If I have a machine that can do the work for me quicker, safer, and easier than a hand tool, there is no reason I am not using the machine! Now leave me alone and go cut your lawn with a pair of scissors like a real man.
