In 1962, a rocket engineer named Gene Middlebrooks applied what he’d learned designing ballistic missiles to build and sell turbinebased poweradding equipment for cars. And when we say “turbinebased”, we don’t mean turbochargers. His “turbo drag axle” was a revolutionary invention that used a turbine to drive the axle of a car, which let drivers toggle their car between comfortable street ride and absolutely mindboggling power.
