If your child is developing typically in other areas of development, there are no known conditions that would effect their gross motor skills.. and your child’s range of motion and strength are within normal limits… you might be feeling confused

With the help of a PT we discovered that Nya’s case it is two fold

Though her strength is within normal limits, her developing core still had her feeling a bit wobbly so
She decided pretty early on that she would prioritize stability over mobility
Which looked like locking out her joints in atypical positions which limited her ability to move and ultimately slowed her gross motor development
We are now working to break these neuromotor patterns and create new pathways that are much more functional for her development
The Second piece of this is to feel safe in becoming more mobile, Nya requires more sensory input to help her control her body in space. This means a lot of proprioceptive activities before working on waking and also using kinesio tape!
