I stayed in Quanzhou for quite some time, and it quickly became one of my favorite cities in China.
Foreign tourists are rare, but Quanzhou is a hidden gem. And I have enough reasons to say that. As the birth place of Fujianese culture and the first Chinese trade ports that opened up to the outside world Quanzhou is the place to find a huge diversity in Fujian Province:

⭕ Kong Fu and Shaolin Temple
⭕ Beautifully preserved historical city quarter (UNESCO sites!)
⭕ Great food, laid back, and stunning landscape
⭕ Incredibly diverse religion, and you can find temples, mosques, churches...
and the list goes on...

In short, it is a super laidback city with modern charm, and an ancient soul!
