Why Does My RV Smell Like... | Replacing An Air Admittance Valve

Jouppi Outdoors

If you are asking...Why does my RV smell like rotten eggs, sulfur, sewer gas, or any other terrible smell, this video is for you! Terrible RV smells are most often described as one of the smells I listed above. The reason these smells and fumes get into your RV is usually due to a faulty air admittance valve! The air admittance valve is a one way valve designed to allow air to be pulled through and help your sink and grey tank drain properly. When the air admittance valve on your RV gets stuck open, fumes from your grey tank will be introduced into your RV causing that terrible smell. Luckily, air admittance valves are not difficult to change and are also inexpensive! Below is a link to the one we used in this video, it is a much better valve than the original and will do a fantastic job of keeping those tank fumes from smelling up our RV!
