Have you ever wondered what is the reason behind grey or white hair even at a very young age? Grey hair is becoming a really common problem among today's youngsters. And the root cause of this problem is Melanin. So let's understand the science behind hair color with the help of 3D Animation.

Hairs are made up of this Keratin named protein, and this protein is colorless. The color of this keratin protein is provided by the melanin, which is produced by the melanocytes cells. Melanocytes cells keep on producing melanin, and this melanin then provides black, brown, or blonde color to the keratin protein.

But the point is why hair get grey because of this melanin which instead provides color to them? So the answer is that the color of hair gets grey because of the low production of melanin by the Melanocytes cells, and because of the less melanin production, the keratin cells become colorless and hence start to look grey or white.

The second common reason is Oxidative stress. Hydrogen Peroxide gets deposited in a high amount in the hair follicles because of this Oxidative stress. This hydrogen peroxide reacts with the color pigment of hairs and makes the color lighter, and gradually our hair become white.
