Why do cats hate water? Cat’s ancestors lived in dry environments and weren’t near water to bathe in or get wet. Cats have sensitive fur that is uncomfortable when wet and takes a long time to dry. Wet fur weighs cats down which can make it difficult for them to move or escape from danger.
