Most people take time off over the holiday period. There are many people who choose not to those who work in the essential services. One group of essential workers are disability carers.

And the reason they choose not to take time off, is because the people they are helping CANNOT take time off. We cannot choose to take time off from our disability, not during the holidays, not on the weekends, not for our birthdays, not for our weddings.

The only way we can continue to engage with life during all these special events is with the help of these wonderful people who give up their time during their own special holidays.

I am incredibly grateful to all the disability carers out there, who go into this career knowing that there will be times they might need to put their own holiday to the side, to help me engage with mine.
