Tripurasura is a wellknown demon in Hinduism. They were the son's of Taraka, a daitya (demon) king who conquered the heavens and defeated Indra. Tripurasura was so powerful that they defeated even Agni, Vayu, and Surya, which caused an imbalance in the world. Lord Shiva came to fight Them with his Pashupatastra (Astra) as requested by devas to restore order in the world.
