Sometimes isopods ‘teleport’, or show up uninvited in other isopod bins. This can be problematic in two ways for your isopods:
First, one species of isopod can outcompete the other over time (often the invader), or, if they are the same species of isopod, but a different morph, they can wreak havoc with desired traits by introducing different genes into the population. Here is how I deal with the latter scenario…when a Porcellionides pruinosus ‘whiteout’ bin has either Porcellionides pruinosus ‘Powder Blue’ or Porcellionides pruinosus ‘Messenger/Silver Bullet’ showing up in it.
