Leather is one of those features that gives a car a luxurious, sophisticated look and feel while contributing to the overall driving experience. Just like other surfaces it needs to be cleaned and maintained on a regular basis. But, with so many different products and processes available, it can make things really confusing. So, how do you care for the leather in your car?

With leather products it’s always a good idea to be extra cautious and test for color fastness and compatibility on a small, inconspicuous area. Begin by gently vacuuming. If you are using a plastic nozzle, make sure it’s not rough so you don’t scratch the leather. A soft bristled brush can be a great tool to help you collect dust and debris as you vacuum. Next, evaluate how much cleaning is needed, the type of appearance you want and the type of application you prefer.

MAINTAIN, LIGHTLY CLEAN & PROTECT
For leather in really good condition that needs light cleaning, Meguiar’s Ultimate Leather Detailer is the perfect choice. Spray onto a towel or applicator, work into a section and wipe off gently. This will lightly clean, keep the original appearance and add polymer protection making it easier to maintain in the future.

Another option for light cleaning with a little more gloss would be one of the Gold Class Leather 3In1 products. The spray and wipes clean, condition and leave a rich, luxurious appearance. For a more traditional approach, Gold Class Rich Leather 3In1 Lotion or Gel provide excellent cleaning, moisturizing and protection leaving a natural look and feel. Repeat if needed working in sections.

CONDITION & PROTECT After Moderate Cleaning
After deeper cleaning, condition and protect with a product like Meguiar’s Gold Class Leather Conditioner. This will gently condition with aloe and moisturizing oils, add UV protection, and help to maintain an original look and feel. Spray on leather or on a clean towel or applicator, work in evenly, and wipe off excess with a separate towel.
