This customer had already waterproofed his basement foundation with a waterproofing spray, french drains, and gutter downspout piping. Unfortunately, the installers used that black slinky pipe called corrugated pipe. This pipe is inferior in every way (but it's cheap and easy to install). After several years the flow had dropped and the system was no longer carrying water away, which caused flooding in his basement. We installed a few catch basins to collect surface water off the hill and caught several gutters to carry water away. We only use solid schedule 40 (not thinwall) PVC and glue all joints together. I also talk a little about the hydrology of installing catch basins and proper techniques.
