Becoming a clinical pharmacist didn't happen overnight.

I had 9 years of pharmacy experience before starting my current job.

I held local and national leadership positions during pharmacy school.

I worked as a pharmacy intern at a pediatric hospital to help set me up to work in pediatrics in the future.

I did a residency while living in a different state than my husband...in a pandemic.

Today, you see the end result not the process and work it took to get here so if you want to be a clinical pharmacist one day, here are some tips to help:

Plan to do a residency. Learn what it takes to get into the programs you are interested in.

Study! Grades matter, but learning the information you will need to care for your future patients matters more.

Work in a hospital pharmacy if you can.

Take a leadership role. You don't need 10 positions during school. You just need one that you do extremely well and are passionate about

Don't forget to take care of yourself along the way. Trust me, entering residency burned out won't do you any favors!
