With Kitten Season in full swing, I'm getting a lot of questions about when young kittens can begin eating on their own and what to feed them. In this video I will show you the best foods for kittens this age and how to encourage them to start eating on their own. Kittens are able to eat solid food between 3 and 4 weeks old. Usually they learn from watching their mother eat, and as she begins to wean them off milk they start looking to eat solid food. There's lots of foods for kittens on the market, and I always recommend buying the highest quality dry and canned food you can afford. Be sure the food is soft enough for small kittens to chew, and that it contains the proper nutrients needed for growing kittens. Provide a clean living environment (kittens are messy), fresh water, and lots of love...a healthy diet is just part of raising happy kittens!
Here's a couple of my goto kitten formula canned foods:
Triumph Turkey Kitten Formula Quality ingredients with no byproducts that are nutritious but are also easy on kitten's tummies
Muse by Purina Naturals Chicken Kitten Pate Never met a kitten that didn't LOVE the taste of this food! Great for picky eaters
