80 years after its end, the battle of Stalingrad continues to have an enormous resonance around the world. Its name alone conveys its significance, and the fascination that this battle has held for decades in the minds of so many people, whether historians, military men, politicians or philosophers, is such that to this day, there are very few topics of World War II that have been more widely discussed than this one.

However, we must not forget that this battle was not only fascinating because of its epic nature, but that it has left us an enormous human and moral legacy. No matter how much time passes, Stalingrad was and will be a battle that showed war as it is in its most substantial sense: brutal and merciless.
