The Kratt Brothers are in New York City at the American Museum of Natural History to learn all about extinct animals like the dodo bird!

The dodo was a bird that lived on the island of Mauritius, in the Indian Ocean. They were flightless birds with small wings, powerful legs, and a hooked beak that was approximately 9 inches in length! It is thought that this beak helped them open tough fruits or settle disputes with other birds.

The dodo is thought to have had no natural predators and because of this, it may have evolved to become a flightless bird who could survive from food sources such as fruits, nuts, and small vertebrates from the forest floor.
