Do We Misunderstand the Buddha?
Not only those outside the tradition misunderstand, but also those within the tradition still harbor misunderstandings. We misunderstand the Buddha, then convey his teachings inaccurately, leading to misunderstandings among future generations. Many people mistakenly believe Nirvana to be eternal death. However, Nirvana represents the supreme happiness of those who are liberated. It is a happiness that we can experience here and now because of our freedom, especially freedom from concepts.
