Day adventures with Gasper

Join me on a hike at West Fork of Oak Creek Trail, Sedona AZ.
This is a scenic national forest trail following cliffs, a stream, canyons and some historic ruins. West Fork is one of the most popular trails in the Coconino National Forest. Most of his trail is an easy stroll, but you do have to cross the stream in a number of places. Usually, you can maneuver your way over strategically placed steppingstones or taking a couple of steps in shallow water. On the trail we will encounter the old Mayhew Lodge site.
It was built in the 1870s and was the first cabin on site. Later it was turned into a resort and opened to guests in 1926.Many famous people stayed at the lodge including President Herbert Hoover, Jimmy Stewart, Clark Gable and Walt Disney. In 1980 a fire burned the entire complex.
We will also be passing through an old apple orchard.
As you stroll beside the pleasant little stream that runs along the canyon floor and look up you will see amazing cliffs towering above you.
