Weekly Underground House and Dubby Techno Mix - Week 12

Follow
Tom Miskin

My camera decided to stop working so I've just used an ancient Gopro for this one so sorry for the iffy quality happily the audio is still crystal and coming out of the mint DAC's in the RANE mixer. This week I'm leaning into the dubbier side of things, lots of that medium paced house / techno crossover type tracks but always with groovy drums and insistent basslines. Normally I prepare these mixes in Rekordbox and then just mix it all live but this week I've been pressed for time so it was a bit more of a justpressplay and see what happens affair but it turned out great I think.

Tracklist:

1. Sun Archive Street Feel

A random bandcamp find, very nice deep trippy house music with lots of drifty synth action. The flip of this tune is also really good and is on last week's mix.

2. Malin Genie & Per Ham Disposer

Malin Genie is a super productive Dutch (I think) producer that has made loads of this dub inflected house/techno crossover gear that I really like, check em out on Bandcamp.

3. Hiraku Nagasawa Matrix Track

According to Discogs this fella basically released just this one tune. I guess it's so good he figured he couldn't top it and stopped?!

4. Malin Genie The Foolish and The Senseless Alike

Very similar chords to their previous track so I could tease this in and out 3 deck style.

5. El Choop Mindscan

A Berg Audio release, really nice drums that add tons of momentum to the mix.

6. Alex Arnout PS2

I really like Alex's stuff and have played a few of his releases so far in this series. Something about his sound reminds me of Fabric nightclub circa 2002

7. Markus Homm Natural Soy

Nice syncopated drums give this one a breaksy feel while still being 4/4

8. MAlin Genie and Per Hom Skull

Just amazing, hypnotic techno inflected deep house music.

9. So Inagawa Reminder

Such a talented producer and has so many unique feeling tracks. I don't normally go for tunes that are so obviously "minimal" but this one just has such impeccable production and unique noises, I love it.

10. Rootstrax Harlequin

From ultra minimal to the deepest of deep house, but it makes perfect sense (to me at least)

11. Djoko Ikarus

More brilliant stuff from Kolter. Kind of took things up a notch here from pretty zoned out minimal to much bigger drums and kicks.

12. Tony Thomas Tooled Up

Screechy vocal and huge drums makes this a fun time.

13. Sedgwick Voyeur (808) Mix

Getting a little bit more transcendental and with some fun breakbeats for good measure.

14. Gene Tellem Tender as a Rhodes

More lovely stuff from Bellevue.

14. Matt Spiaggi Are You Ready (Tommaso Pizzelli Remix)

Amazing warped out big bass breaks thing with all the trippy noises to round things out.

Let me know what you think!
