WEBINAR: Dense+Green Cities: Architecture as Urban Ecosystem

Follow
DesignSingapore Council

The Dense+Green Cities webinar explores the interaction between buildings and the city as ecological systems. Dense+Green Cities is based on an ongoing research project launched at the SingaporeETH Centre Future Cities Laboratory (FCL) in 2015. The project studies dimensions of “green building” that will inform the design of future sustainable highdensity highliveability cities, demonstrating how Singapore can be a laboratory for future cities.

Our panellists and participants had a discussion of what sustainable dense and green cities could be, as well as the impact of the COVID19 pandemic on the planning and design of future cities.

Panellists included Mark Wee, Executive Director of the DesignSingapore Council; Stephen Cairns, Professor and Director of the SingaporeETH Centre Future Cities Laboratory; Thomas Schroepfer, Professor of Architecture and Sustainable Design at SUTD; Sacha Menz, Professor and Chair of Building Process at ETH Zurich; Roland Bouffanais, Assoc Professor and Principal Investigator of Applied Complexity Group at SUTD; Srilalitha Gopalakrishnan, 1st Vice President of the Singapore Institute of Landscape Architects.

DesignSingapore Council is proud to support this exhibition as part of our efforts to promote design futures content that visualises how our lives may change in light of the rapid acceleration of technology, climate change, aging, and other issues shaping society. As designers are always imagining the future, we believe that introducing their work to the public will add to the current discourse on the future of Singapore. By providing a platform for such design futures content, we hope to inspire the public to come together, start conversations and cocreate Singapore's future.
