In this video, you will learn the similarities and differences between both the Genesis and Spirit series plus a few problems so you can make the right buying decision. We will also show you Weber's new Smart grills in both series.

First both the Spirit and the Genesis are designed for the outside in a way other competitively priced grills are not.

Even on the basic models, the unit is constructed of hard plastic, stainless steel with a painted bottom to withstand the elements even in New England.

Three years ago, they also changed their internal components as well dubbed the GS4.

However, the GS4 was added to all the Genesis II, easy enough, but only the less featured Spirit II which oddly enough does not even include the best models like their brandnew Smart grill.

So, we are really comparing the Spirit II the regular Spirit which is most of the line including their new grills, and the Genesis II.

Let's just visually look at the GS4 improvements and what they look like on the grills for the Spirit and Spirit II.

Besides the ignition system, Weber added a second row of bars on the GS4 models to decrease flareups and centered the grease collection, so it flows more evenly. The older series has only one row of bars with the grease collection is on the side. It uses an older, but still effective crossover ignition design.

The real question is how do you grill? The basic Spirit II is a solid grill and has the better GS4 refinements. It's great for individuals and small families and is the most affordable at $379479.

If you have a larger family and/or like to entertain, the larger Genesis might be better. In a choice of a larger more basic Genesis and a more featured Spirit at around the same price, it depends on how you use those added features like side burners or the added sear burners to cook a bit faster.

The GS4 on the Spirit II and Genesis II is a bit better than the regular Spirit, but the systems on both grills are both reliable and durable for a New England winter.
