Volkswagens early T5 has turned 20 years old and we’ve gone an found a very early example of this classic Transporter.

Launched in 2003 the VW T5 was a complete redesign of the T4 it replaced.
New engines and a new chassis (which has survived right up to the latest T6.1 models.)

Originally offered in 2.5l 5 cylinder and 1.9l 4 cylinder turbo charged diesel engines.

We’ve found a local van up for sale with a 220,000 miles 2.5 5 cylinder engine. Is it any good? We think so, does it rattle, absolutely lol!

We’ll use it and document it’s time with us to give you a true account of what it needs to maintain and run.

Although not strictly a buyers guide I’ll give some pointers as to what to expect if you’re looking for something similar.
