We spent three days traveling Niigata thanks to the Niigata prefectural government! Our first 24 hours were on Sado Island. The taraibune area with the red bridge is 矢島経島 (Yajima/Kyojima; the name of the two tiny islands connected by the red bridge), and the gold smelting facility ruins are 北沢浮遊選鉱場跡... There's no official English translation for that, but I guess it technically translates to the Kitazawa Froth Flotation Ruins?? That's a very unsexy name, so you could call it the Kitazawa Gold Flotation Ruins, maybe.
