The day has come to pick up our bees! Instead of getting packages, we decided to start with nucleuses (nucs). These are established colonies that include worker bees and a queen, as well as five frames and a fullydrawn comb that includes nectar, capped honey and brood.

A package of bees, on the other hand, would not include the frames or comb. So by purchasing nucs, we gave ourselves a twoweek head start.

We purchased our bees from Barnyard Bees, a local apiarist (beekeeper) here in Georgia. And yes — we picked them up by car!

In this video, we'll take you along on our trip to north Georgia to pick up our two nucs and share how it feels to have two loudlyhumming bee colonies inside of the car.
