Kathryn is a wife, mother, sister and grandmother living in Athens, Georgia, who recently completed a rehabilitation program for substance use. After her encampment in the woods was declared a public nuisance, city officials cleared out her belongings.
“We didn’t have time to move some of the stuff,” she says. “I had real furniture. I had a tent.”
Kathryn is grateful for local organizations that provide blankets and clothing, and says she wants to help her community too: “I want to help make a difference.”
