Solo

This nest cam follows its story from the moment this owl chick chips out of its eggshell. See Solo unfurl like a seed from the confines of its egg and see how its mother is instantly attentive. Watch as she slowly slides her long, taloned foot from under the barn owl chick, careful not to hurt its head.

Failed eggs

This was the only egg to hatch and once the female realises the second chick will not chip out, she discards it. Watch how the male comforts the female when he returns to find the other barn owl chick hasn't survived.

Caring barn owl mum

My cameras afford an insight into how these birds of prey care for their young in a way I've never been able to enjoy before. For instance, watch how the adult female holds her tiny, featherless chick to her breast to keep it warm whilst she feeds it.
