Trump's first impeachment 2020

In closing remarks, Chief Justice John Roberts thanked the Senate majority and minority leaders for their support as he carried out a trial with “ill defined responsibilities in an unfamiliar setting.” He also thanked the entirety of the Senate for making him as comfortable as possible during the process. He said the front row of the Supreme Court remained open for any senators who wanted to stop by to observe an argument. “You have been generous hosts and I look forward to seeing you again, under happier circumstances,” said Roberts.

The U.S. Senate voted to acquit President Donald Trump of both articles of impeachment—abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. The votes fell almost entirely along party lines. Only Sen. Mitt Romney, RUtah, crossed party lines to vote in favor of convicting Trump on the abuse of power charge.
