Getting a rescue dog can be such an amazing thing for someone to do. To help a dog who doesn't have a family to love them and care for them can be a truly wonderful experience for everyone involved. But there are some important things that you need to think about before making an emotional decision that can positively or negatively affect that dog's life. We get to meet LOTS of rescue dogs in our training programs. Unfortunately, some people underestimate the needs of that rescue dog before bringing them home. They assume that because they are getting a dog that is older than a puppy, they won't have to put in some of the important foundational learning that their new dog will need. The steps that you take while introducing a rescue dog to their new home maybe even more important than if you were to bring a puppy into your household. This video will talk about some of these crucial steps to make the transition as positive as it can be for your new fourlegged family member.
